Thank you for being here, and for clicking on this honest thing.
The first thing I can promise–maybe the only thing–is that this isn’t forever, that life gets better. I wouldn’t do this job if it was bullshit.
Trauma = when an event is too much for the mind.
It’s the chameleon. It’s the thing that turns into everything else–depression, anxiety, insomnia, the more intense stuff like addiction and DID, the spookier stuff like schizophrenia and paranoia.
It overwhelms, takes over, slides its greasy tentacles all over our joy, our jobs, our lives. It says, I AM ALWAYS IN THE PRESENT. You were raped? It says, you are always being raped. Molested as a kid? Always molested. You did some bad things? Trauma says, you’re always bad.
Thanks, trauma.
But the deal is that we can use trauma to get strong, to heal.
There are some darn wonderful MODALITIES that help us when we are in hell, help us get through, and I know the ‘best’ ones for healing from trauma. EMDR, IFS, MI, iRest, any and all of these in tandem with the 12 BASIC THINGS WE NEED for joy.
We can do this. You can do this. It sucks, and it’s going to be okay. We’ve got each other and a buncha good energy.
